The owners of this Dutch Colonial located in Princeton, NJ wanted their backyard to have a polished, park-like elegance. They requested a patio entertaining area, perennial gardens, large shade trees, open space for play, a pool patio area, and a sealcoated driveway. After evaluating the homeowner’s needs our designers devised a strategy focused on all their requirements.

We began by raising the grade of the yard to accommodate the seating wall along the perimeter of the patio. The lower patio was then installed using unit pavers, leading the owner down a path from the patio to the pool area. River Birch, Shadblow Serviceberry, Sugar Maple, Kousa Dogwoods, and other perennials were then planted along with sod to complete the entertaining area, open space, and pool patio area. Finally, the driveway was cleansed of all debris and sealcoated, providing the finishing touch to the owner’s request.
